December 9, 2011

Oldsmar, Florida. Michael Pinson, founder of the Pinson Foundation, the charitable arm of Pinson Communications, announced that a $1,000 cash donation and $3,700 in “in-kind” support was issued to the AIDS Service Association of Pinellas, Inc. (ASAP) – a Suncoast Hospice affiliate.  When the Pinson Foundation discovered that the organization had a commercial expense quote of $3,700 for sound equipment for their annual AIDS Walk St. Petersburg, the Pinson Foundation provided the use of its sound equipment at no charge, plus a $1,000 cash grant.

“We are very happy that we could help the organization with this grant. It is important for all non-profits to team up together like this in order to better our community,” said Michael Pinson.

ASAP provides high quality, culturally competent care by offering a comprehensive continuum of HIV/AIDS services.  The organization also seeks to influence health and human services policy by participating on a local, regional, national and international level.  It is our community’s recognized center of excellence for the provision of resources and care to people infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.

“ASAP and our Suncoast Hospice family of programs are committed to bringing our community together to offer a compassionate response to the pandemic of HIV/AIDS.  Our work would not be possible without partners in caring like The Pinson Foundation,” said Mike Bell, Executive Director, Suncoast Hospice Foundation.

1 in 220 people in the Tampa Bay area are HIV+.  Last year alone, ASAP touched the lives of more than 194,000 individuals through prevention education, HIV testing, case management and support services.  Nearly 1,000 clients are provided medical case management each year, and ASAP’s Brighter Seasons for Children program served 125 children whose lives are affected by HIV/AIDS in 2011.

A person does not reach the full circle of personal success until they consistently give their time and/or money to help those in need in their local community. The economy has been very tough since about 2008, and we thank our Foundation supporters and our customers at Pinson Communications who have made this possible, said Michael Pinson.

The Pinson Foundation is a small nonprofit charitable 501(c)3 organization that was founded in 2006. It is the charitable arm of Pinson Communications, Inc. The Foundation has no employees, pays no rent for office space, and is managed solely by volunteers. The Foundation helps primarily support local charitable causes. However, in January 2010, after the devastating earthquake in Haiti, the Pinson Foundation reached outside the United States when it funded and led an eleven person surgical team to the country. Furthermore, the Foundation team returned to Haiti in May 2010 to help re-supply local orphanages and clinics in need. The Pinson Foundation is directly supported by the local community, Pinson Communications, and Michael Pinson.
